Buyers switch on to flexible appeal
The West Australian, 13 May 2011
Versatility and practicality are keys to the broad appeal of the Switcheight30 display by Switch Homes
for Living, at Settlers Hills.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home can be easily adapted to have a four or five-bedroom layout, to
suit a wide range of buyers.
Its main living zone is a spacious open-plan area with a streamlined kitchen, big living room and dining
area, and seamless links through glazed doors and a handy servery to a big alfresco area under the
main roof.
A separate theatre room is opposite the main suite, at the front, and the two minor bedrooms are in a
wing at the back — one with semi-ensuite access to the main bathroom.
Sales and marketing manager Lee Morris said the three-bedroom version, as displayed, had been
appealing to empty-nesters, and the adaptability of the design to create four or five-bedroom versions
had generated great feedback from families.
“Given Switch’s signature adaptability, the target market in the original design brief was for a ‘diverse
demographic’,” he said. “This has been something most appealing to the different age groups, given the
multifunctionality of the rooms and spaces and the variations to the plan that are available.”
The kitchen has parallel rows of cabinets and drawers with essastone tops, stainless-steel cooking
appliances, overhead cupboards and a breakfast bar on the outside edge of a long island bench.
There are cabinets below the servery at the back of the kitchen, and more storage and meal preparation space
is provided in the walk-through scullery or pantry, linked to the laundry.
The living room has a broad media recess between two tall windows, and the dining area has full-height
corner glazing, for an uninterrupted view and access to the alfresco area and garden beyond.
From the street, the display has dark face bricks for a feature wall plus light-coloured render and a grey
Colorbond roof.
Another version of this home can be built from $208,811.
