Make the switch to a home that wows
The West Australian, 02 September 2011
Pindan is a highly regarded commercial builder that in recent times has forged new directions in the West Australian housing market to capitalise on the WA boom.
This new Caversham display home built by its residential division, Switch Homes, showcases fantastic ideas.
Of particular note are the Velux skylights in the living room. With electricity costs of increasing concern to most homebuyers, providing lighting to the internal parts of the home is always a challenge.
Skylights, like glass conservatories, have been a no-no in WA’s summer heat — but with double glazing and remote-controlled blinds, they are not only an attractive architectural feature but also a practical solution to providing extra light.
These have been included in the Caversham Switcheight180 display home but are the only items not included in the display home price.
Raked ceilings in the dining area, a floating raked ceiling in the home theatre, an elevated recessed ceiling in the main bedroom with hidden lighting and the variation of heights in the conventional flat ceilings all create an overhead geometry that makes the home interesting at every turn.
The kitchen and scullery combination is the other wow factor. It features integrated dishwasher, fridges and built-in microwave. The Essastone-clad island bench comes with under-slung sinks, and all the cabinet doors are pushed to open to provide a clean modern look.
Essastone benchtops are also found in the scullery and the shelf/outdoor bar that enables you to serve directly from the scullery to the alfresco area.
A single sliding door opens from the kitchen to the alfresco area and there are double doors off the dining area into the alfresco area.
The spacious main suite is at the front of the home and the external glass wall with French doors opens to a private courtyard. The ensuite bathroom can be either open plan or closed for privacy.
The three family bedrooms are at the rear and grouped around a family bathroom and separate toilet.
